Sad news. The man who invented the pizza pop has passed away. Paul Faraci was 89. Originally he was from Winnipeg but retired to Vernon, in the Okanagan where he passed away earlier this month. Yes, the pizza pop was invented by a Canadian!
He sold it to Pillsbury, and the rest is history. The Pizza Pop has been a staple for kids at lunch, and college kids in the dorm ever since.
I mean, who hasn’t experienced that classic pizza pop feeling……of that molten hot interior exploding out on the first bite and burning the crap out of the inside of your mouth. It’s a Canadian childhood right of passage.
So tonight let’s all have a pizza pop in honour of it’s Canadian inventor, Paul Faraci. This time, just don’t zap it in the microwave for quite so long.
