The Trans-Canada Highway is closed in Valleyview this evening after a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist.

The accident was reported heading eastbound around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highland Road, believed to have involved a motorbike and a pickup truck.

Further details of the situation are not clear, although Kamloops RCMP have confirmed one person has died at the scene.

According to DriveBC it’s not clear what time the highway might reopen. The closure is between Vicars Road and River Road, and traffic is being detoured on Valleyview Drive.
