A COVID-19 exposure is being reported at NorKam Secondary School, the first post-Spring Break exposure in a Kamloops-area school.
Interior Health says the exposure was on Monday and Tuesday of last week, March 22 and 23, though its unclear how many people are impacted at this time.
An exposure is also being reported at Westmount Elementary with the potential exposure happening on three days last week, March 23, 24, and 25.
At the time of publishing, these exposures were the only active ones in the Kamloops-area, though that’s likely because several other districts are only returning to school this week after a two-week Spring Break.
SD73 Superintendent Terry Sullivan said previously he was concerned about cases increasing after spring break, as there was an increase when students returned to class after the winter break.
As has been the policy, school officials say if parents have not been contacted by public health teams, their kids are not believed to be at risk of developing COVID-19.
If you have questions or concerns about COVID-19, you’re also asked to contact 811.
