
Interior Health says a COVID-19 outbreak at The Florentine in Merritt is over.
There were two resident cases linked to the privately operated long-term and assisted-living residence on Belshaw Street. There were no deaths since the outbreak was declared on Feb. 18.
The Florentine has 62 total beds – 38 for assisted living and 24 for long-term care residents.
Interior Health says an outbreak is declared over when two incubation periods, or 28 days, have passed from the last onset of symptoms in a resident.
Last week, Interior Health declared three Kamloops outbreaks over. Those were at the Brocklehust Gemstone Care Centre, Westsyde Care Residences, and the Highridge Home and Singh House group home.
The most recent data from the BC CDC showed 42 cases of COVID-19 in the Kamloops Local Health Area between March 7 and 13, along with 15 new cases in the Merritt local health area.
