Interior Health says a cluster of COVID-19 cases in the Williams Lake area has been contained.
That is despite four new cases being identified since the last update four days ago on Feb. 19. There have been a total of 421 cases connected to this cluster which was first declared on New Year’s Day.
Of the total, there are currently 33 cases that are considered active, with 388 people considered to have recovered.
The health authority says given the decline in cases and the ‘manageable’ COVID-19 circulation, Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Albert De Villiers, considers the cluster to be contained.
“Interior Health is thankful for the support of local First Nations Chiefs, elected officials, and community leaders as we support the community together,” a statement from IHA said.
The health authority is asking people to remain vigilant as it notes that there are still COVID-19 cases in the Williams Lake area and across the province.
