Easter Seals British Columbia & Yukon is a registered charity that provides programs and services to families and persons with diverse abilities that help improve their quality of life through programs like Easter Seals summer camps, Easter Seals House, post-secondary bursaries and community access services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals with diverse abilities are among society’s most vulnerable and they may be struggling more than others due to the loss of access to critical services and programs as a result of social distancing/isolation. Easter Seals BC/Yukon has had to adapt the way it offers programs in 2020. The beloved summer camps will change to a virtual format and Easter Seals House has temporarily become a shelter for women and children fleeing violence. In addition to the children who need our help, there are another 926,100 British Columbians over the age of 15 with a disability who are facing growing levels of poverty, unemployment, and isolation. The charity continues to rely on the generosity of its donors to fund its programs and services and is still seeking donations during this global health emergency.
