In the movie Grease it marked her transition from reserved pretty high schooler to “Sexy Sandy”. It you saw the movie you’ll no doubt remember the scene where Olivia Newton John’s character appears in tight black leather to impress Danny (see below to see it again). Now that outfit can be yours. John has announced she will be auctioning off the costume to raise money for her cancer treatment center in Australia. The top and bottom will be sold separately but are expected to fetch up to $200,000. Other items for sale include an original script of the movie and the pink gown that John wore to the Grease Premiere.
The auction will be held November 1 and 2 in Beverly Hills. Proceeds will go to the Olivia Newton John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, where Olivia herself has been undergoing treatment after her breast cancer, in remission since 1992, returned and spread to her lower back. We wish her the best and here’s hoping she raises a lot of money.
