It was August 22, 1964 that the hottest band in in the world played Vancouver—for about 20 minutes. 20,000 screaming fans jammed into Empire Stadium to see The Beatles. Tickets for the biggest concert draw on the planet were only $3.25. That’s only about $26.50 in 2018 dollars. Because the crowd was so excited The Beatles played only 11 songs: Twist And Shout, You Can’t Do That, All My Loving, She Loves You, Things We Said Today, Roll Over Beethoven, Can’t Buy Me Love, If I Fell, Boys, A Hard Day’s Night and Long Tall Sally before the show was cut short by police who feared a riot.
