He was hoping to soon fly to Winnipeg and sing the National Anthem for his hometown hockey team, the Jets. But now that plan is in limbo after a weekend car crash in Los Angeles that has left Canadian musical icon Burton Cummings very sore and glad he’s still alive. Cummings says his car was T-boned by another vehicle that ran a red light. He was briefly knocked unconscious after his head cracked the side window. Burton says he suffered a concussion, cuts and bruises and has a very sore back. He says he’ll need some “serious healing time”, but is trying to focus on how lucky he is, because it could have been much worse.
As for heading to Winnipeg and singing for the Jets? Let’s hope they beat Vegas and make it all the way to Stanley Cup finals. That will hopefully give Burton the healing time he needs to make the trip home and maybe even see his team hoist the Cup.
