Let’s go back 50 years, to when Vancouver was half the size, and driving from Horseshoe Bay to New West was a breeze on streets not nearly as clogged as today. Take the trip thanks to this Ministry of Highways ‘photo-log’. Its a digital compilation of old photos snapped from a moving vehicle every 80 feet as it drove city streets and highways in 1966. You’ll see how rural much of West Van was, as you travel towards the Lions Gate Bridge. Georgia street downtown looks almost unrecognizable. Then you’ll drive over the old Georgia viaduct, up Main street to Kingsway, and down Kingsway to Burnaby and New West. And check out all those old cars! Enjoy the ride.
