People had heard them on the radio, bought their records, but it was on this day, Oct 24, 1964, 3 years go, North America got it’s first live look at the Rolling Stones on stage. They played the Ed Sullivan show and performed two songs, “Around And Around” and “Time Is On My Side” The kids in the audience went so crazy, Ed Sullivan described it as a riot and vowed The Rolling Stones would NEVER play his show again. He lied. They appeared again in ’65, and 69. Ed must have decided they were too big a band to ignore. Smart move Ed.
