Bob Dylan has paid tribute to his late previous bandmate and friend Tom Petty. During his show in Colorado Saturday night, Dylan covered Petty’s 1991 song “Learning to Fly.” Watch footage of the performance below.
Dylan issued a statement remembering his friend just after the news of Petty’s Death on October 2. “It’s shocking, crushing news,” he said. “I thought the world of Tom. He was great performer, full of the light, a friend, and I’ll never forget him.”
Dylan and Petty played together in the Traveling Wilburys, the rock supergroup that also featured Roy Orbison and George Harrison. The pair also performed in 1986 on Dylan’s True Confessions tour, which resulted in the concert film Hard to Handle.
