He’s a man of few words, and has always let his music do the talking instead. But after winning a Nobel prize for literature in April, Bob Dylan was actually required to give a lecture on his lyrics and music, in order to collect the $900.000 prize money.
But instead of doing it in some stuffy lecture hall, Bob presented his lecture to everyone, the 21st century way—on Youtube! In it, he talks about the artists who inspired him early in his career and how even though his award was in literature, “Our songs are alive in the land of the living. But songs are unlike literature. They’re meant to be sung, not read…..and I hope some of you get the chance to listen to these lyrics the way they were intended to be heard: in concert or on record or however people are listening to songs these days”.
